The DNA (desoxy-ribo-nucleic-acid) is the carrier of the genome of all living animals. It consists of two traces containing each one a identical copy of the genetic information. One molecule of DNA is build up by a hexamere sugar, a base and a triphosphate. During cell divison the two DNA-traces are doubled and divided equally on the daughter cells. The DNA molecule is very large and consists of two strands of ribonucleotide subunits with 4 bases, thymine (T), guanine (G), cytosine (C) and adenine (A). The two strands are wound round each other to form a right handed double helix held together by the base-pairings A-T and C-G. Details infos: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNA
