The use of electric fields for detecting objects and sensing the surroundings. Found in rays and skates as well as in some fish and even in a mammal (Platypus). Can be divided into active and passive electrolocation where the first involves animals that active send out electrical impulses and the latter relying on detecting electric signals from other living beings.
