Diabetes is a widespread hormonal disorder which disturbes or destroys the blood sugar (glucose) regulation by insulin and glucagon (two hormones of the pankreas). The oversupply of sugar containing food nowadays makes people sick when the sensitive balance between sugar levels in blood and cells is disturbed. A permanent too high glucose level in the blood causes in the longterm morbid effects for all kind of tissues and organs in the human body.
Neuropathy is one of the diseases which result from diabetes. It is the slow destruction of nerve
cells in all kind of tissues and organs also in the autonomic nervous
system which controls the activity of the stomach and the gut. Gut
motility impairment and stomach trouble result from the diabetes-caused
neuropathy. Reduction of life quality
A reduced life quality, costiveness and looseness are
unpleasant consequence for the patients. Now the attending doctor has
to improve the blood glucose levels of the patient. The less compliant
the patient is by applying his/her personal insulin therapy the worse
of course will be the success. As long as the digestion is constraint
by the effects of the neuropathy as long of course the ingestion of the
food from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood (including the
sugar in the food) is constraint as well. So there is a negative
feedback loop between high sugar levels and neuropathy.
Lazy patients
The bad compliance of diabetes patients towards therapies is often the
main reason why a diabetes deteriorates over the years. Many people suffering from diabetes just do not follow the instructions of their doctors and nurses. They continue to east the wrong food or just forget to inject the daily insulin portion. This is not only lazy but also often very unreasonable and stupid behaviour which doctors cannot control. So if a doctor
succeeds in adjusting the patients blood sugar this will improve
significantly the gastrointestinal complaints.
